Short Film: The Delivery Guy

Logline: The Nelson sisters are throwing a baby shower, and things take a hilarious turn for the worst when the man delivering their food happens to be their long-lost deadbeat dad.

Synopsis: A very pregnant Demia and her sister June are throwing a baby shower with their friends Teryn and Stacy. They open gifts, including a breast massager that looks like a sex toy and an actual sex toy, while they wait for their food delivery to arrive. When the food arrives, June and Demia are stunned to realize that their delivery driver happens to be their long-lost deadbeat dad, Roy. Having run away to be a flight attendant (and then fired for joining the Mile High club), the sisters haven't seen their father in almost 20 years. June, the younger of the two and a big softie, keeps melting for her father's subpar explanations while Demia is having none of it, reminding June of the ways he's let them down — like the one time she had to take drunk uncle Roddy to the Daisy Scouts Daddy-Daughter dance because they didn't have a daddy. Meanwhile, Teryn and Stacy just want to eat the wings that have arrived, but Demia won't give up the food until she gets some answers. Unsatisfied with his excuses, Demia turns their father away. Before he goes, June speaks up and earnestly asks why he left. Expecting yet another half-baked explanation, everyone is stunned when Roy admits the unfettered truth: he ain’t shit. June embraces him and Demia agrees to work towards a relationship with him. He leaves to go deliver a bag of soggy Taco Bell that's been sitting in his backseat this whole time and promises to come back for the rest of the baby shower. As the women, now full of hope, sit down to finally eat, they realize he brought the wrong order.

A comedic short film that combines the best of Girlfriends and Insecure.
